Unlike the majority of other rivers in the South West which are unable to maintain 'B' grade classification all year round.

The River Exe is a deep fast flowing river that has an all year round 'B' grade classification. The waters of The River Exe are so clean that some areas have been classified as 'A' grade, meaning that shellfish can be eaten without depurification.

After cleaning, grading, and 42 hours in purification tanks these mussels are hand finished ready to cook.

These mussels are elevated from the sea bed using a unique system of powerful water jets. This method is more preferable to dredging, as it does not damage the sea bed or disturb other sea life unnecessarily.

With a high meat content and distinctive flavour combined with excellent shelf life, these mussels cannot be beaten on flavour.
